Café Tulipant, located across from Le Cocq is my second recommendation if you are planning to visit Place Fernand Cocq. Located at the corner of rue de la Tulipe, its pleasant terrace offers the best view of the Ixelles city hall. Tulipant is derived from tulip, the street name. The street name comes from the tulip garden that used to stand on the site of the Town Hall.
Inside, you cannot miss the large central wooden bench, combined with the granite terrazzo counter and the well-adjusted lighting, you would think you were in a trendy New York bar.
Its location and warm interior have made it a gathering place for all the hipsters in the neighbourhood.
As from 4 PM, you can enjoy an aperitif with lovely home-made cocktails and food to share. All of the food they serve is next-level bar food. It's much better than 90% of what is served in other bars in Brussels, it's almost restaurant-worthy food.
The bar is very lively and is hosting events with DJs, food pairing and more every now and then.
