When MICA opened in rue Vanderkindere, at the border between Uccle and Ixelles district, I was sure that it was going to be a success story and I was not wrong! After several years of activity, this dynamic grocery still occupies the same little store but the number of staff preparing the daily menu has doubled in order to satisfy the always-growing number of loyal customers.
MICA is the story of two ladies who had the good idea to open one of the first healthy food groceries in the area, offering a large variety of organic vegetable dishes with lots of fresh and raw ingredients - a cuisine that is multiethnic with strong south Mediterranean influences.
To make your choice easier the store is equipped with two marble counters, one with a large variety of starters and salads, the other one with a selection of main dishes, either fish or meat. On the top of the counters sit some inviting desserts. All around, the shop displays delicatessen such as good-quality Italian pasta and Spanish olive oil. On the floor some wooden boxes contain fresh vegetables and fruits.
Among my favourite dishes at MICA are the quinoa salad with apples and pomegranate; the basmati and wild rice with chickpeas, raisins and herbs; the herb-coated fish cakes and the delicious carrot cake. MICA is also my favourite address where to make my own fresh salad bowl for an healthy lunch at the office. The staff is very friendly and passionate.
