WIELS has it all. The old beer brewery located just south of the Midi train station has been turned into a contemporary art museum with an impressive rooftop view and a communal garden next to the train tracks. Not to mention the hipster café at the entrance.
I live in the neighborhood and I sometimes just go there to see which flyers they have at the front. Call me old-school but I love going through paper brochures to see what events are happening in my city, it catches my eye a lot faster than scrolling through social media.
If you're into gardening, check out the communal garden next to the museum, they often have events going on during summer. If you're staying for a longer period you can also sign up to volunteer and get into gardening together with your new neighbors. It's one of the few spaces in Brussels that is still very open and rough.
