I usually like going out to different places and I want to discover new restaurants, but Pâine și vin (in translation Bread and wine) is an exception. It is one of the few places in Bucharest I never get bored with. Why do I like it so much?
First, the place itself is unique: the interior design is inspired by the traditions and the elements specific to churches. The huge bells that serve as chandeliers, the monochromatic aspect of the furniture, the tables made from solid wood – all these things remind you of the monastic way of life.
Second, the food is great. They use local ingredients and the menu is based mostly on flatbreads and pizza. Actually, pizza is not the proper way to name their dishes. Their dough recipes is inspired by different cuisines. Many dishes (pizza, cold cut and cheese platters) are made to be shared, they are two-person portions. It is no coincidence that the motto of Pâine și vin is “Share. Together.”
Last but not least, the wine comes in great variety. Here you can find the best wines produced in Romania. The staff can help you if it is hard to decide. If you do not want an alcoholic drink, you can enjoy the fruit infused water or the natural juices.
