After drinking a delicious glass of Jérome Jouret’s butter-flavored Sauvignon Blanc “La Chasse aux Papillons”, I thought to myself: “I need to find a place where to buy this unconventional wine”. I even went to a wine store in Lyon (France) during my vacation to try and find it. All this time, Jérome Jouret’s wines were actually available in a natural wine store in Ehrenfeld called La Vincaillerie.
La Vincaillerie offers natural wines from all over Europe, including Austria (e.g. Schmelzers Weingut), France (e.g. AntocyÂmes), Georgia (e.g. Artana Wines), and Germany (e.g. KMH Weine). In between brackets are wineries whose wines I have tasted and warmly recommend. La Vincaillerie also sells cherry wines, ciders, and spontaneously fermented beers from my favorite German brewery: Kemker Kultur.
The owner, Surk-ki Schrade, gives good recommendations, including by telephone. She organizes wine tastings, and you can rent the store for private events or tastings. She also organizes the Wein Salon Natürel Cologne, which usually takes place at the end of March. Last but not least, if you want to enjoy wines from the comfort of your home, you can order them online.
