Everybody has to eat. Everybody has to drink. Why not use vintage glasses, cups and plates?
When I enter Burkelbloem, I enter a world dedicated to the previous generation with taste. It's like the inside of the sideboard and kitchen cabinets of my grandmother's house. The place is filled with beautiful glass and plates.
Boch, a well-known Belgian producer of dinnerware created different types of plates and cups for Expo 58 (the World's Fair in Brussels in 1958). It was the perfect opportunity to show the world what Belgian design was. Today the plates are very rare, but still timeless and beautiful as ever. You can still find them in Burkelbloem. Stop by at Christmas time, the store is filled with old Christmas decoration.
I also love to rummage around in the vintage collection of other things in the store. Sometimes I think I live in the past, but in fact design of the past is probably the future.
