Who told the world that parking lots are boring? Especially in Ghent, nothing is boring over here. So I’m going to take you to the second coolest parking lot in the world, but with the world's coolest city view over our city.
‘The second coolest?’ In the ‘World's Coolest Car Park Competition 2018’, this parking lot of our city centers hospital Sint-Lucas won the silver medal. It’s an architectural gem designed to give the hospital a landmark in the city skyline. If good architecture gives you nice feelings like it does to me, it’s worth a visit. The white metal with thousands of geometric perforations and the green balconies are just perfect to lead you to the top for a view over the city.
I love city views, it’s my kind of yoga. I come here to remind myself that I’m very lucky to be born and raised here, maybe finding some memories of my childhood or discovering new adventures. The 360-view I find here is the most attractive summary of my city. Our Three towers like in a fairytale or the new buildings of the expanding city. Even our harbor is an aesthetic image.
To get to the top you have to take the elevator in the highest of the two buildings and go to the 8th floor. If your condition allows it, you can take the stairs, but please, for the sake of everyone's safety, don’t go up through the car entrance!
Enjoy the poetry of the skyline.
