You must have heard of shish kebab! I am a real meat-lover and Canim Cigerim is one of my favorite meat restaurants in Istanbul.
They are really very good at liver and meat shish kebab. It's a laid-back, casual place in the heart of Beyoglu -- don't dream of a fancy ambience -- but the taste never leaves me feeling disappointed.
As soon as I sit at the table they start bringing sidedishes like pickles, greens, marinated onions with sumac, grilled vegetables, fresh lavash and I start thinking that these are enough and that there's no need to order more -- until I sniff the shish kebabs on the grill, that is... There is both liver and meat shish on the menu, but as I always want to taste both of them, I prefer ordering half and half.
You can order like me and make your own rolls with the side dishes on the table. Or you can order ready-to-serve shish rolls; you're going to have a feast either way!
