Welcome to Çukurcuma Hamamı 1831 and my kind of spa day in Istanbul.
Dating back to 1831, as seen from its name, this historical Hamam is one of my favorite activities, especially on a rainy or a bit cold day in Istanbul. In my opinion, the Hamam experience is exceptional when compared to more luxury hotel spa options. The interior design of Çukurcuma Hamamı is in harmony with the goal of creating a calm and relaxed atmosphere. The white minimalist design, high ceilings, stained glass windows, marble floors, and cozy seating areas reflect a pure atmosphere.
Çukurcuma Hamam 1831 has a unisex policy, allowing you to enjoy the experience with your partner. They prefer to take reservations via WhatsApp, which is very user-friendly. As the hamam is not very big, they are very cautious about the bookings. Make a reservation for both a hammam and a massage.
You may bring your own bathing suit, but be sure they will give you everything you need, such as soap, shampoo, towels, slippers, disposable bikinis, or shorts. I always bring my own bikinis and flip-flops to be comfortable. This is up to you. I should mention that the Çukurcuma Hamamı's staff goes above and beyond to provide excellent service. They truly think of everything.
After your unforgettable experience, you can explore the charming streets of Çukurcuma and discover its unique antique shops, art galleries, and cozy cafes. Don't forget to try some traditional Turkish tea or coffee while you're there!1
Trust me, it's worth it!

Turkish Tea is had after each meal, and it's a reflection of hospitality. When in Istanbul, have it at small local tea houses in Sultanahmet.
