Enjoying a wonderful meal while looking over one of the bohemian neighborhoods of Istanbul - Cihangir - is truly a unique and very special thing to do.
Demeti Restaurant in Cihangir is located on a lovely street in a cozy apartment with a small charming balcony. It’s a place that feels a bit like home. The interior is as inviting as the balcony. Vintage decor, white and checkboard tablecloths, old black and white photos on the wall... But my first choice is always the balcony. The panoramic view of Cihangir and old Istanbul, accompanied by the graceful flight of seagulls and the presence of the district's beloved cats, adds a fascinating touch to the experience.
When it comes to the food, this a perfect place for a sharing experience. I’m sure you already heard about our famous mezes, the best way to experience authentic Turkish dining culture. Here, you will find a tempting array of freshly and daily made dishes. All delicious. Fried aubergines in tomato garlic sauce, zucchini fries, taramasalata, and mom's style fries are among the must-tastes. The soft voice music and attentive service make each visit a true pleasure.
Cihangir is also home to some of the city’s busiest nightlife spots and has a cool crowd. So, I highly recommend visiting during the early hours with a reservation and enjoying the rest of the way on the streets of Cihangir, celebrating diversity, art, and people—a combination that makes it a cherished spot.
