I love coffee and was especially excited when a new third wave coffee shop opened right in front of my very nose. I never knew the reason but Kurtuluş was always left out of this coffee glut. But now that has changed. Two ladies and their best buddy, thought why they don't we have a coffee shop in our neighbourhood? That's how Marika popped up. A new meeting point in my neighbourhood Kurtuluş.
It's not the location but the atmosphere that counts. Cosy, small, homey, warm and embracing. They don't roast their own coffee but then why should they as we have lovely roasteries in the city. They serve the best beans for their artisan coffees with hand made delicacies. What else do you need. Wifi! Yes that's also available.
Just to grab a cup of coffee, or to hang around or to hug your friends and have a meeting; this is the perfect location to be social. In the heart of Tatavla (the old name for Kurtuluş) you will find this calm coloured and sincere candid stop as a shining armor. It's already my highlight in Kurtuluş.

Turkish Tea is had after each meal, and it's a reflection of hospitality. When in Istanbul, have it at small local tea houses in Sultanahmet.
