CASA PEI+ is doing a roaring trade with locals in the Chamberi neighbourhood of Madrid, and it’s easy to see why! If you like Korean, this little place, with its exquisitely concise menu, will delight you for sure! Choose from 6 different dumplings, either steamed or fried, plus a couple of specials and sides (including vegan kimchi), and that’s it. There are 3 desserts (the matcha cake is dreamy) and a good drinks menu - few things but done really well.
The decoration is equally minimalist, without being austere; service is friendly and fast, and it’s reasonably priced. No reservations, so get there early (that’s before 13:30 if you want to beat the Spanish lunchtime crowd or before 19:30 if you want to avoid the dinner rush hour). We got there in time to snag a table, but a queue soon formed and quickly grew. The waiting list is written on the window outside, so you can see how many people are before you - a simple yet effective system.
If you do lunch, you can check out the wonderful Museo Geominero before, and why not round off with a visit to the unique Sala Canal Isabel II after!
