I'm not sure how it was that I found this place, but I think I was scrolling through Instagram one day and was captivated by the cutest shelf I'd ever seen: extending across the main wall, a shelf with tea cans and many different teapots. (There's a Mickey one that I have to try!)
As small as Tassel is, they offer a variety of pure teas and few but really good tea blends. I love chai, so I tried their masala chai on my first visit. On a quick note, a chai is a tea blend of black tea and warm spices, such as cinnamon, ginger, clove and cardamom. The spice blend varies from tea house to tea house, as they all try to deliver different flavors from the amount of each spice used. Some very adventurous houses try adding other ingredients such as lemongrass, anise or even chocolate.
Tassel's chai is a very tasty blend, but the best part is the way they prepare it. Normally, chai is infused milk or a mix of half water and half milk, but in this tea house, they grind the blend, dilute it with a bit of water and add it to a teapot of hot milk. The result is an incredibly comforting and delicious drink, with robust notes of the spices, since you drink them whole.
Along the tea, my favorite pastry in Tassel is the alfajor, a cookie sandwich with dulce de leche that helps delivering a cozy experience.
