Centro Cultural del Bosque Mexico City

Ring the curtain up

""Centro Cultural del Bosque" is a group of theaters in Mexico City that have a cultural offering that has no mainstream stuff. I want to stay there forever"

I can’t remember the first time I visited this place. What I can remember is the night I sat in a row of one of these theatres to enjoy a play based on Faces in the crowd, a novel by the Mexican writer Valeria Luiselli. The stage was all black and almost empty, just a table and a coat rack. The play started and I wanted to stay there forever.

The Centro Cultural del Bosque (known by its initials in Spanish as the CCB) is a group of theaters located near the Paseo de la Reforma avenue, a few steps away from Auditorio metro station (Line 7).

Its cultural offering is wide and distributed among six different theaters (5 for performing arts and one for contemporary dance). Every space brings an option for a different kind of audience, from children to lovers of experimental theater. On of the objectives of the Centro Cultural del Bosque is to promote stories written, directed and performed by Mexican talent. It’s a place in constant change and movement. The CCB focuses on plays far from the commercial stuff.

Every time I go there, I try to spend a while at the the terrace of the coffee shop. It’s comfortable and you can get some snack before the play starts.

You can see the schedules on their web site and also buy the tickets online.
