Mama Rumba is a night club focused on one thing: Cuban salsa! The action starts at 11:00, when about ten musicians take the stage and play their best songs while the other 500 people or so start dancing their hearts out.Â
Located at La Roma neighborhood, Mama Rumba is a repurposed two-story building. My suggestion would be to get a seat on the upstairs balcony, where you can have a great view over the stage and will have a little bit of room to dance as the ground floor gets super (and I mean, SUPER) crowded.Â
What I love about Mama Rumba is that it doesn't matter if you're a pro dancer or just occasionally move to the beat (you can always copy the neighbors' moves), there's a place for you in this lively spot. Inspired by Cuban dance rooms, the sounds and the happiness at Mama Rumba are intoxicating.Â
The band plays for an hour straight and takes 30-minute breaks, which is just the perfect time to rest a little bit and drink a mojito. Although not the best I've had, they are refreshing and sweet, so you can keep on dancing for another two or three hours.Â
If you're not a great dancer but enjoy dancing like me, this is a must-go spot, and it actually offers free dancing lessons before the club opens!
