Vito is Sicilian and works in his own butcher shop. I met him for the first time five years ago and will always remember his good mood, positivity and proactiveness. He actually is one of the faces of Giambellino, one of the most characteristics neighborhoods in Milan.
This is in fact a peripheral and very popular area: not really the “snooty” Milan that exists in everybody's concepts of the city, but – for Milanese people – just as famous.
Some years ago, Vito literally saved the popular market where the butcher shop is located: at the time, the municipality considered the market not profitable enough and wanted to replace it. Founding a strong merchant union, Vito supported the dealers' rights and protected this local trade spot.
Moreover, the city still claims one of the most high-quality butcher shops! Vito, in his huge spirit of proactivity, evolved his business into a meat store 2.0. Here, of course, you can buy and also eat on the spot -- from the fridge, to the grill, to your table.
His specialties are, needless to say, Sicilian recipes: from raw meat tartar to Sicilian rolls, to the most complex marinated meats -- everything is really fresh, as can be attested by the daily morning deliveries and the delightfulness of the products.
Pay attention: for lunch during the week you’ll have to fight for a table with dozens of men in suits and ties waiting to be seated!
