After my last renewed arrival in Montreal, I decided to really get to know the city. In my first and only year a while ago, I mostly spent time on the campus---student life it was. But after a couple weeks back, months I should say, I started getting a new overview of this town. One thing for sure is I noticed the huge impact the world expo 1967 had on its urban development. Interesting to witness the traces left of how the future was envisaged half a century ago.
I did notice the facade of the Atomic Cafe while exploring Hochelaga district for its famous and colorful mosaic on many walls on my bike or simply using my feet. But also while attending art and design exhibitions, the name and its location came back in my memory---I knew that place!
Open the door and you enter a parallel word filled with plastic, round pieces of furniture. Order a atomicano, a delicious variant of the americano, take a seat on one of the retro-futuristic chairs and chill. My favorite spot is along the window, the perfection location to observe the people wandering on Ontario street. Definitively a good place to stop, star or have a break in your exploration of Hochelaga.
