From chain shops to standalone cafés, all types are represented, which, truth be told, makes sense with a university nearby. Who needs coffee more than frazzled students cramming for exams? Walk along De Maisonneuve West near the corner of Bishop and you’ll bump into Pigeon Espresso Bar, a little place with a big impact.

A narrow and small place, it’s perfect for a stop-and-go, you know, those times you’re in a hurry but need that caffeine. They make the most of their space, filling their high ceiling with greenery and a simple yet effective hand-drawn image of a pigeon on the wall making the shop memorable. The maple latte I had was more than satisfying and will definitely come back for more.
