Being a true fan of Greek cuisine since I visited Athens for the first time for Spotters Weekend 2016, I became a connoisseur and try visiting all the Greek restaurants I find interesting ever since. One of them is ‘Molon Lave’, a Greek spot located near Belorusskaya metro station and Tishinskaya Square.
The title of the restaurant can be translated from Greek as ‘come and take them’, the words attributed to King Leonidas I who said this to Persian King Xerxes I when the Spartans declined to surrender their weapons. So, the restaurant owners, who are Greek, by the way, just mean ‘come and take our great food!’
The food there itself is really very good. On the menu you will find not only traditional food such as moussaka, meze, souvlaki, fried halloumi cheese, etc, but also international dishes - pasta, pumpkin soup, mussels. Everything is cooked with fresh products and tastes amazing. Apart from the restaurant, ‘Molon Lave’ is also a bakery and a shop offering authentic products.
The price level there is a little bit above average, so consider visiting ‘Molon Lave’ as an exquisite spot, not some ordinary bistro. It is a perfect place for celebrating some occasion or meeting an old friend you haven’t seen for a long time.
