District Untersendling, in short, the Sendlinger Sortieranlage (sorting plant) is one of my favourite places in Munich (Close to Implerstraße U3/U6). The real gems of Munich are hidden here. If you really want to experience Munich away from the hustle and bustle of the city, you've come to the right place.
The Sendlinger Sortieranlage is located not far from the meatpacking district and is also not far from the Isar river, for those who want to refresh themselves in the water in summer. But the building itself is much more exciting. It's shaped like a triangle you put on the ground. It forms an island bordered by a road on each of its three sides. In the long building there are two Italian restaurants, a fish market, a German and a Turkish snack bar.
In summer it is very beautiful. You can sit outdoors and enjoy the sun with a Ginger Spritz (Prosecco with ginger syrup) at Un Po Di Tuttos or you grab some fish at Unser Fischmarkt.
Not far from the Sendlinger Sortieranlage there is an organic bakery with the best bread in Munich and a cool pizzeria called Saluki. This is one of my favorites, because it serves the best beer in Munich: "Das Helle" from Tilmans.
If you want to visit Sendling, make sure to schedule a day. There is a lot to discover here, especially the most beautiful street in Munich, the Valleystraße.
