Ok, I know. Munich is not very famous for fish. We are not Hamburg. But it's not a challenge and we are not envious, because we have one little Turkish fish store, with the freshest fish you can get. The variety of seafood is big, from oyster to monkfish over to fresh tiger prawns, you can have everything. It seems to me, that the whole sea lies behind the counter. In case he doesn't have the right fish, he will order it for you.
"Attack the Steck" - I recommend you visit "Unser Fischmarkt" on Friday. Every Friday fresh grilled fish will be served. In Bavaria it's called "Steckerlfisch" (grilled and smoked fish on a skewer). They have trouts, mackerels, but I like dorade royal the most. It has bigger and less fish bones than the other fish and the meat is very tasty. As a side dish a homemade potato salad from Grandma will be served.
Give me a Steckerlfisch, a Pretzel, a beer (or *Spezi in the afternoon) and I'm the luckiest guy in Sendling.
*mixture of Coke and Fanta
My conclusion: a fish a day, keeps the doctor away!
