Remember the sitcom Cheers and its famous theme song Where everybody knows your name? For me, that's Dnevni boravak - The Living Room, a charming book café located a minute's walk from the main bus station.
The place has a cozy, laid-back vibe that instantly makes one feel at home - hence the name. Friendly bartenders, walls lined with books and music albums, a paraphernalia of vintage trinkets on every imaginable surface... It's the kind of place where you'll pop in just to say hello and end up startled, hours later, when you realize it's closing time.
I would also call it one of the most notable cultural hubs in Rijeka. They stage various events on the regular, ranging from music gigs to poetry readings, most of them so well attended it makes you wonder how such a tiny space can fit so many people. And yet, nobody seems to mind the crowd. The Living Room is much more than a bar; it has a soul that makes it a home away from home for every person that walks through the door.
