The Angelo Mai is a place of cultural jammin'. It's a place for music, theater, experimentation, for art in the broadest meaning of the word. It's a place where artists mix their ideas with others' to create something new and it's a place where people can get in touch with this art.
The Angelo Mai has a long and troubled story in the city. It all started in 2004 with a housing occupation of an abandoned school in the heart of the Monti neighborhood and goes on today in this spot, after moving in and out several times.
I used to check their schedule almost every week because they always have something interesting: concerts, shows, exhibitions, workshops or even just a nice DJ set. It's located in a very green area of the city. It has a big garden perfect for nice weather, but also an indoor space, divided into two parts: one to have a drink and chill out and the other one to enjoy the shows and dance.
The Angelo Mai is the right place to spend some time surrounded with the idea that something different in the city is still possible.
