Castle at heart of the city
This incredible site is considered to be a museum, a monument, and an archaeological site. You can enjoy much of the splendor for free without even going inside or enter on the first Sunday of the month, when there is no admission fee.
The top of Castle Sant'Aneglo has a cafe with one of the best views of the city. Entering the grounds brings you to cross a bridge over the Tiber, in the afternoon, it can be a sensory experience with all the people admiring the huge statues and the musicians playing and vendors selling crafts. The evenings make for a quieter walk with incredible views of the castle reflecting on the water.
I most enjoy the space as an oasis of green space along the side of the castle, where you can find a bench under a shady tree, you might see a horse-mounted guard go by, or you can continue walking down to the expansive park and amphitheater below for a one-of-a-kind picnic spot.
