The corner where Piccolo Bar sits is both bustling with its proximity to Piazza Novana and intimate with its small tables snug up against the building and decorated with fresh flowers. There are often musicians playing nearby to enjoy, or it is easy to strike up a conversation with any of the friendly staff.
A spritz at Piccolo Bar will be served with the perfect amount of ice (this can be a rarity in Rome) and accompanied with marinated olives that somehow always complement whichever drink you pick! The menu for wine by the glass is eclectic for such a small venue. I have discovered many new varieties here, as the list changes with the season.
The items from the food menu are made to order in a tiny kitchen, but portions are quite large and the quality is excellent, as you can see the staff slicing the meat or vegetables to order. The menu rotates new items every few months, but all of the pinsas and salads I have tried have been delicious. If you bring your dog, like I often do, they will also likely be offered some freshly sliced prosciutto.
