When the sun comes out in Rotterdam, there's no better place to be than Biergarten. It's an open-air bar hidden next to Central Station and surrounded by the urban Rotterdam architecture. There's good music, picnic tables, craft beer and street food vibes.
It isn't a fancy place to go to, but that's part of the charm. They've got a large selection of local and international brews, and the crowd is super mixed: students, creatives, after-work groups and locals. You'll often find pop-up food stalls or collabs with other local spots, especially during events or themed weekends. The food is casual, but very tasty, offering hamburgers, fries and vegetarian options too.
What I love most is the laid-back, summer-festival energy. DJs spin relaxed sets, strangers share tables, and time kind of disappears. It’s not open year-round, though usually just spring through early autumn, so when it is open, locals make the most of it.
