I love noodle soup. I could even say I'm addicted to it. One day I decided to never eat that cheap noodle soup with unhealthy powder packages wrapped in plastic again.
So I learned how to cook it. And I looked in Rotterdam for the most authentic noodle soups you can possibly find. One of the restaurants that offer them was Hinoki Noodle Soup.
This place looks unimpressive from the outside. Inside too, to be honest. That's why it's easy to overlook.
But I won't allow you to do it, it's simply too delicious to miss.
The service is done in a humble, respectful way. It's pretty quick as well.
The bouillon used for the soups is boiled for many hours according to the traditional Japanese recipe.
The menu includes options like Tokyo Shoyu Ramen with boiled egg and narutomaki, miso ramen with bamboo shoots, bean sprouts and spring onions and tan tan men - spicy sesame miso soup. My personal favourite is the Special Shio Ramen - it will warm up your soul, I'm not kidding.
You can also order vegetarian miso ramen and there's a good variety of side dishes to make your meal complete: takoyaki - octopus balls, gyoza - chicken dumplings, and toriteri - teriyaki-marinated chicken.
It is possible to order Japanese beer, hot sake, cold sake and Japanese tea.
A simple restaurant that will fill your belly and satisfy your appetite for authentic Japanese ramen.
