I'm glad to say that craft beer culture has finally settled in Saint Petersburg. RedRum Bar is a pioneer: they've contributed a lot, and that’s why every weekend, since 2015, it has never been empty.
This bar is located in the part of the city center that is full of restaurants, pubs and places of this sort. It's easy to get confused and choose another place to spend your evening, but focus and pay a visit to RedRum.
There is a big board with 24 sorts of beer you can choose. Usually. the first 12 are made by popular local brewery AfBrew (the owners of the bar) and the rest are imports from Europe made by progressive, modern craft breweries like To Øl, Põhjala, Stones.
If you come hungry, you should order the bar's speciality, the Smørrebrøds – Scandinavian "butter and bread" - that comes with different toppings and is the best in the city. Believe me, I'm a fan of this delicacy and I've tried it in every place in Saint Petersburg that makes it. My verdict – Redrum: eat, drink, love.
Why Stanley Kubrick, you ask. The bar is named after one of the most famous Kubrick's movies "The Shining". If you have never seen it, then do two things: first – you should read name of the bar backwards, and second, you should ask the bartender what happened to the portrait of Jack Nicholson.
One more lifehack: you'll see 24 sorts, but you should ask about #25 - you'll be surprised. Keep travelling and never stop exploring.
"Beach Laskovyi" is my favorite place in Saint Petersburg to feel the soul of the sea and enjoy the sun - even when it's snowy! Lovely for long walks.
