The locals call this spot Mrs. Crucified.
I know, crazy name. The statue has been there for as long as I know myself, and no-one has ever called it differently, nor is there a logical explanation for that name.
Anyway, she is popular and there is practically no-one from Sarajevo that does not know what this name stands for.
It stands for the most popular meeting spot in the city. It just follows you through life. From elementary school, through high school, work, old age, you set your meetings here for play, shopping, theatre plays, concerts, sports events, basketball matches... you name it, it's there.
Taking a photo in Mrs. Crucified's lap is a must, and saying Hi to her while waiting for friends is part of our cultural etiquette.
For me, she always kinda looked like someone with arms spread to welcome and hug.
Whether you have a meeting or not, come to this meeting point and meet her. You will not regret it.
