When in Sarajevo, the City Hall is a place to experience that “ wow “ effect. The City Hall is not just an ordinary tourist spot or a simple place for locals. It’s so much more.
It’s not just one of the most beautiful buildings in the city, it’s one of the most beautiful teachers as well.
In 1995, it was totally burned down due to the war in Sarajevo, leaving such a sad sight of broken heart and soul, with just a small number of books saved. So much was lost, in so many ways. It was a big cultural disaster, but it rose from the ashes, literally.
Today, unfortunately, due to the lost books, it is not a library any more, but it is definitely a diva among buildings. Today, it is a gallery, an event and wedding hall, an inspiration for photographers and a regular tourist site.
On one hand, she (not it) is a teacher because she used to be one of the biggest libraries in Europe with priceless pieces of literature which were known worldwide, and on the other she is a life teacher, representing how divas deal with the winds of history and strikes of evil.
When you go inside, you feel its power of courage and your eyes get lost in her beauty.
She picked up her ashes, standing out more beautiful than ever, and laughs.
She's a diva, you will see.
You can check my story on the City Hall here.
