Are you a traveler with kids or a young person full of energy that also likes to do sports? Or do you simply want a place to relax and enjoy nature? In that case, you should definitely visit Safet Zajko Centar in one of the biggest and most populated districts in Sarajevo.
In 2015, an old military compound was destroyed and reconstructed into a hip and vibrant park. For me, it was so interesting to see a pile of rubble and a couple of destroyed military buildings made into such a beautiful and fun place. I go there when I want to play basketball, go jogging, use an outdoor gym or take my sister's kids out. The options are virtually limitless; I could go rock climbing, play soccer, tennis, ice skating, or I can simply sit there and relax and observe the Bosnian "slice of life", by watching Sarajevan working class spend their free time with their kids and loved ones. Centar Safet Zajko is truly a place for all generations. Most of the park's features are free, but some require a small fee.
It is roughly 6 kilometers from the city center, in a district called „Nedzarici“. The best way to get there is by taking the tram (number 3 or 5) and exiting at the Nedzarici station.
