Fjällgatan is one of the most beautiful places in Stockholm. After you have left the subway station Slussen, which is forever being rebuilt and is regrettably ugly, you can turn your eyes to the water from Fjällgatan. Thanks to the fact that it is situated high above the rest of the city, you get an amazing view over the island of Kungsholmen with the City Hall, parts of the old town and the island of Djurgården with Gröna Lund in addition to lots of big and small boats. The beautiful location has attracted some famous restaurants, like Hermans vegan restaurant which has been located there for decades and the coffee shop Fjällgatans kaffestuga, which among other things serve nice ice cream. For me it has been a tradition since I was a child to visit regularly, especially during summer. One advantage with this walk is that the view never looks the same. You see a lot of the sky and so much nature, and depending on light conditions and season it keeps changing and it keeps being impressive.
Fjällgatan is a short walk from the subway station Slussen where you can take the green or red subway (4 minutes going south from the Central station).
