If you want to enjoy movies without commercials & popcorn, you should go to Cinema Niagara. It shows many indie movies and movies from somewhere other than Hollywood. Some of them may be mainstream, like the Oscar winner Parasite I just saw, but there are also some movies you can see only here and not in the bigger theatres.
One of the best ones I have seen was the Estonian ”Seltsimees laps / Toveri lapsi” that is based on a book about childhood in the Soviet era. They also organize themed weeks e.g. on movies from a specific country. You should go to this theatre on time, since the doors will close and the movie will start about the time printed on the schedule. There are no seat places, so you can find your own spot.
You walk in the cinema through a bar / café / restaurant where you can have nice snacks, lunch, drinks or coffee before or after the movie. A craft beer after the show is my choice. The place is in an authentic old factory and situated just by the other big lake of Tampere near the rapids that connect the two lakes and where the whole city was originally built.
Just in the same block called Kehräsaari, you can find other nice restaurants and small shops for handicrafts. Through the cafe window, you can watch the water floating by.
