CHU Asian Street Food is an Asian buffet restaurant that started off as a spontaneous thought by its two founders one summer, with the goal to bring popular Asian street food to Tampere. In the beginning of 2020, they opened their doors on Sammonkatu, and I and a friend from Japan were lucky to be one of the few visitors to have eaten at the place before the pandemic hit. I remember making small talk with one of the servers at CHU, only to later realize that he was actually one of the two founders!
Despite having opened during an unfortunate time, CHU has managed to sell their food as boxed meals at the local supermarkets during the period that they had to close their doors. CHU has since then opened its doors again, with the necessary precautions in place, and even selling takeaway for those who want it. I highly recommend going to this place if you feel like having tasty, popular and affordable Asian food on a budget, for either lunch or dinner! The dishes change from time to time so make sure to revisit for new flavors!
