I get a message from my best friend and she's asking me to go for a coffee with her. Yes, let's meet! Same place? And the place, of course, is Kahvila Aniitta at the Market Hall of Tampere.
Kahvila Aniitta is the place where everyone meets for coffee: elderly pensioners, families, friends, even teenagers. It's the largest café inside the Market Hall, but it's always full. But don't worry, you don't need to wait for a long time to get a table. And it's worth waiting.
Everything is home-baked at Kahvila Aniitta. Early in the morning people go for a traditional breakfast porridge, which is good, I've heard. I'm no porridge eater myself, but then again I just love their sandwiches filled with eggs, cheese, ham, salami tomatoes and cucumber. Or if you are a fish lover, there is a salmon sandwich.
When it comes to the sweet pastries, the speciality of Aniitta is definitely the Swiss roll (look at the photo!). It is just so delicious, creamy and soft, and in addition, it is totally gluten and lactose-free. Of course, there are more traditional Finnish pastries too available, just ask and enjoy.
Kahvila Aniitta is another great place to sit down and meet with people at the Market Hall of Tampere. Especially during Saturdays and before holidays, it's packed with people. And atmosphere.
