Tarjanne, which was built in the year 1908 is the world's oldest still-operating steamship. I guess that is already one reason why you must experience this cruise! Another reasons are the wonderful views - Tarjanne cruises lake Näsijärvi, which is one of the two big lakes in Tampere. The other one is Pyhäjärvi.
You can step onto the steamship in front of amusement park Särkänniemi - the harbour is called Mustalahti. Tickets can be bought in advance from the Internet or by phone.
There are different kinds of cruises - the longest one takes you all the way to Virrat city and then you can come back to Tampere by bus. This cruise takes about 8 hours and there is a wonderful restaurant on the ship - don't miss that! Very local and fresh food.
It is also possible to try a be a captain for a moment and see the steam room, which is really hot! The power of the steam is awesome.
On September 25th you can see fireworks from the ship. There is an evening cruise available from 18:00 - 21:00. Wonderful autumn views with fireworks - doesn't it sound perfect?
