Casa Fran, a coffee and brunch spot located in Ciutat Vella, is the perfect place to grab a coffee or a quick bite. Bright with a minimal interior and a few pops of colour, it's also a great spot to hunker down and get work done at the large coworking table. If it's not too busy, they may let you work at the smaller tables, but those are typically reserved for non-working customers. One of the reasons I love doing work there is the music they play: it has just the right amount of energy without being too distracting. You can imagine my excitement when I found a link to their playlist on their Instagram stories.
The drinks range from speciality coffee to more experimental drinks like their matcha tonic or orange espresso. Another nice touch? Free bottles of water that you can take to your table. The café constantly smells like fresh bread or cookies right out of the oven, which makes it almost impossible to resist ordering something to eat. The food is a highlight, with daily-baked pastries, a variety of toasts, and complete brunch plates like shakshuka and brioche with bacon and eggs. Try their chipas de queso: they are so good! Just make sure you order before 3 PM, as that's when the kitchen closes.
