It is very easy to get Venezuelan food almost anywhere in Spain. You get to try yummy food with a very similar taste to homemade cooking, so if you haven’t tried any of it, this spot is your chance to do it.
Cachapa is like a corn flour pancake that can be mixed with many things. Classic cachapas are filled with white cheese (called “queso de mano”), but they are also good with pork, jam, avocado, or bacon. Or all of it at the same time. Explosive right? This traditional Venezuelan meal is having a fascinating trendy momentum in Spain. La Cachapera offers more than 20 different cachapas, I wouldn’t even attempt to choose just one but if I must it would be the one with shredded beef and “queso de mano”. Other Venezuelan specialties are on the menu, but cachapa will be your best option.
The restaurant feels very authentic, where most of the waiters are immigrants and would know what to recommend in case you have doubts. For drinks, please try any of their fruit juices, my favorites: “parchita” (passion fruit), tamarind or “papelón con limón”.
I recommend coming for brunch on weekends; you have more time for the yummines. It is best to make reservations in advance. And always be very hungry coming here, hungry and ready to share. Portions are huge, but luckily, you get to try more than one cachapa.
