You know you have arrived at the heart of the city, the place where everything happens, and everybody is living their own thing when you get to this plaza. It is located very close to City Hall and to the park where the old river Jardín del Turia used to run.
I love to walk towards the plaza from Porta de la Mar and look at all the buildings surrounding it. Office buildings and a big department store are on the side, but the most interesting ones are on the corner of La Paz Street, the commercial area in Valencia.
There are coffee shops, bars, banks, shops, and a well-known bookstore if you want to stop for a snack or find a book. Even though there are plenty of busy areas nearby, Carrer Don Juan de Austria, this plaza remains like a hidden gem because I have never seen it crowded. It is like a green and beautiful oasis to relax amid the bustling streets surrounding it. Besides the beautiful palm trees, in the summer time the place is filled with flowers.
