I think you truly become a local when you know the cheapest places to get your weekly groceries. That's why almost every Saturday, I head to Pollo y Conejo Ana y Loli to stock up on chicken for the week. Located in the center of Mercado Central, this old-fashioned poultry stand has some of the best prices for chicken in the city; think 5 euros a kilogram for chicken breast. It's almost double the price in the supermarket!
The stand is pretty old-school and looks like it hasn't changed since the 70s or 80s, but in my opinion, that's part of its charm! Just make sure you bring cash: they don't accept tarjeta.

One of my fondest memories of the city during summer is sitting by their giant-red-plastic cone and cooling down while having a delicious treat.
