Despite its name, Anny’s Dairy Bar serves more than dairy products. Also on their menu are Quebecois comfort foods including authentic poutine and Montreal smoked meat sandwiches. However, what draws people to Anny’s is their maple twist cones made with Island Farms milk. A twist of pure maple butter is mixed in with the creamy soft serve giving a subtle hint of maple flavour without overwhelming the ice cream with sweet.
All of this is served up in the most unlikely of locations in downtown New Westminster. The store itself is small and sparsely decorated. Seating is limited, however, most patrons are just stopping by for a quick meal or dessert and turnaround is quick. Picking up a maple twist cone is the perfect way to end a meal if dining in the area, but it’s worth making the trek out to New Westminster to try this Quebecois classic.
