This little convenience store/shawarma counter is well known in the neighbourhood for its over the top friendly service. As soon as you walk in, the staff are all smiles and hellos, making jokes and treating you like you've just come home to family. The store is clean and well lit, and the atmosphere is infectious - I'm always giggling by the time I leave.
The store sells the usual snack foods: chips, chocolates, soft drinks, as well as some basic grocery staples like eggs, milk and cheese. There's a cute little breakfast bar with hot coffee in the morning, where you can buy muffins, fruit, cereal, etc. There's even a few simple household and first aid items.
But the real shining star is their shawarma. Behind the counter, spits turn slow cooked chicken and beef, perfectly spiced and fragrant. The veggies are fresh and crunchy and the portions are generous. A basic wrap is about $ 6 and you can add things like tabbouleh, hummus, feta, or more meat for a nominal extra charge.
You can also buy platters with pita and rice, as well as hot dogs and falafel. The convenience store is open 24 hours a day, and the shawarma counter serves food between noon and 23:00 (Sun - Wed) and until midnight (Thu - Sat).
