Spanish banks has been a favorite of mine since I was a kid and this is a very local beach as it's off the main ones that are closer to downtown.
There are a number of concession stands that are open during the summer but most folks bring their own food and coolers of drinks. If you happen to be down here during low tide, it's really the best time as it goes way out and leaves the banks open for the public to wander. All of a sudden it goes from a small beach to a massive playground, filled with sand and wading pools that you'll most like see skim boarders taking advantage of.
Even during the fall rain and winter grey it is still beautiful down here and it turns into a busy biking and walking area mainly due to the amazing views of downtown to the east, the North Shore mountains to the North and the ocean to the west.
