If you’re a fan of hot and spicy and of chicken wings, then Zabu Chicken is a must. They serve Korean Fried Chicken where the chicken is triple fried which gives it an extra crispy, non-greasy skin.
Its menu is simple: chicken and lots of it. You can select the types of pieces you want (wings, drumsticks, half a chicken) to the type of sauce. Their hot and soy flavour chicken are their specialities, but they also have a few other flavours. Be warned if you decide to go with the original hot chicken. It is really hot! I had to eat it with a side of rice to cool my mouth off and goes well with a cold pint of beer. Otherwise, for those not looking to burn their mouths, they also have their original soy flavour which is savoury and sweet.
With your order comes a couple of plates of banchan or side dishes. Here you receive a lightly dressed coleslaw and pickled radish both of which are light enough to complement the fried chicken you’re enjoying.
In the evenings, Zabu Chicken turns into a bustling hang-out for Koreans to enjoy a couple drinks, while nibbling on some chicken, with friends. It’s loud and bustling and service can be slow. For the chicken however, it’s worth it.
