It's fresh, it's light, and has very friendly waiters: This lovely new restaurant is worth the trip to Atzgersdorf in the deep south of Vienna. The outstanding cuisine of tasty Cambodian and Vietnamese chefs heats any winter night. Working-class neighborhood Atzgersdorf as part of the 23. district of Liesing is swiftly being gentrified in recent years. Large parts of the former commercial and industrial zones are being turned into housing buildings, schools, and even parks.
The Cambodian restaurant opened within a huge new housing project and now sits in the center of the recreation area. The architecture is simple, light, and modern and allows the creative food and drinks to shine. Arguably one of the finest (and most decorated) in Liesing, it still boasts very reasonable prices and ventures into the many flavors of Asia. The nearby butcher Hödl provides excellent meat which is a substantial element of Cambodian cuisine. The local and fresh products are turned into beautifully arranged delicacies and the young and friendly squad of Asian hosts is really welcoming. Champa is a culinary highlight on any urban adventure to Vienna's scruffy south.
