The Wiener Sportclub has seen much better times and was a leading team for the early decades of football in Austria. It is currently in the third league of Austria, and the English flair of the home ground attracts a diverse and bohemian crowd that looks for an alternative to the commercial football of today. The Friedhofstribüne (aptly named after the adjourning Hernalser cemetery) houses the most active home supporters or Friends of the Friedhofstribüne. The group was essential in saving the club some years ago and uses the rooms above the lockers and below the stands as their club rooms.
The Flag is a social-cultural hotspot attracting the after-game crowds or for special events like DJ nights, punk concerts, and parties. The social and cultural activities are plenty. Both the stadium (the oldest football stadium in Austria) and the bar are in a dire state, despite many years of a promised stadium revamp. But that's part of the legend of the bar, a melting pot of alternative football fans and underground culture. Check the website of the Fans of the Friedhofstribüne for events and opening hours.
