Library & nature
This is obviously one of my most favorite places in Vilnius! MKIC (MokslinÄ—s komunikacijos ir informacijos centras) -- translated from Lithuanian: Scientific Communication and Information Center. This building belongs to the University of Vilnius.
MKIC was opened in 2013 and remains the largest and most modern library in Lithuania built during the years of independence. The library has a capacity of over 1.8 million prints.
What I like the most is that the building is open 24/7; during the day the library is open to all visitors (during the night time only students with ID can get in!), so even if you are not ready to study, it’s a great place to explore. The interior of the library is very modern, with lots of open space and spacious windows, it’s really beautiful! I love that the library is surrounded by nature, so you can have a walk in the forest after visiting MKIC.
I think it’s the best place if you want to escape from the city centre and explore another part of Vilnius. Next to the entrance there is a cafe, so you can grab a coffee or have a snack and spend some time enjoying the library atmosphere!
