Contemporary art
If you are an art enthusiast, this is a spot exactly for you! The acronym ŠMC stands for Contemporary Art Centre, which is the largest art centre in the Baltic states. The art institution was built in 1992 by the Lithuanian Cultural Council. ŠMC is located in the old town of Vilnius, so you can easily find it! The building itself represents modernistic architecture.
ŠMC hosts exhibitions by both local and foreign artists, so go have a look and get some inspiration! The gallery is also a place where you can find a lot of art workshops, meetings and other related events, so check their website for more information!
If you are a cinephile, you can find some great movies in the ŠMC Cinema hall. From time to time they also host great film festivals, so don’t miss them either if you are visiting ŠMC.
After visiting the art centre, you can grab a cup of coffee in ŠMC Cafe. The cafe also serves meals, not only drinks.
What I like the most, is the ŠMC Reading room, where you can read a book and relax a little bit (or have a nap!:)).
Outside the centre there is a sculpture garden where you can get inside for free. It’s quite a small garden, so you can just have a quick walk there.
