While travelling around the world, I always admire different architecture. I often take lots of photos of buildings, sculptures, but one day I realized that the most exclusive constructions are bridges. A lot of bridges such as the 'The Point Neuf Bridge' in Paris, 'The Golden Gate Bridge' in San Francisco, 'The Brooklyn Bridge' in New York etc. are known around the world. While in Vilnius there are no worldwide famous bridges, all the Vilnius Bridges are unique nonetheless.
The Baltasis Bridge (The White Bridge) is a footbridge. This bridge connects Vilnius city centre and the relaxing zone (shopping hall VCUP, sand volleyball courts, Skate Park). Moreover, at the beginning of the bridge, there is restaurant 'Mambo pizza' and winery 'Vinchenso'. Also, the summer leisure zone is located near the bridge. So, during the summer season, there are lots of people around the Baltasis Bridge.
The Baltasis Bridge is unique because of the ray-spear sculpture that decorates it. What is the meaning of this sculpture? This is the project 'Signs of Vilnius', which is dedicated to the capital city. The signs of steel provide a new interpretation of the Lithuanian history. As the project initiators say "The Ray-Spear reflects breakthrough, the rebirth of the nation, independence. The spear is the seventh weapon of a Christian soldier (Miles Christianus). An attribute of St. Archangel Michael and St. George, one of Lithuania's patrons, symbolising victory and bravery."
