Finding a last minute brunch spot in the busy areas of Washington, DC can sometimes be a challenge. Set a little bit off the beaten path in Ledroit Park, Boundary Stone is my go-to, no-reservation-needed brunch spot. Ledroit Park has a relaxed neighborhood feel and is only a 12 minutes walk from the Shaw metro station. However, it is not obviously metro-accessible to tourists, making it a less crowded spot. If the weather is nice, I love sitting on the patio to watch the locals and enjoy the views of the colorful row houses.
The brunch menu offers classic choices including egg dishes, a breakfast burger, and French toast. My favorites are the huevos rancheros and the egg and chorizo sausage sandwich. Like any great neighborhood brunch, they offer bottomless mimosas and Bloody Marys for $15 – about $5 less than what you’ll find in more touristy areas.
Boundary Stone is open for brunch 10:30 am to 3 pm on Saturdays, Sundays, and Monday holidays. They also offer a great happy hour Monday – Thursday from 4 pm to 7 pm and 10 pm – midnight.
